Breakout: Big Idea
Equity is the motive: How Delta enriches careers with a skills-first focus
- Skills-First
Description
Delta Air Line's skills-first talent strategy aims to enrich the careers of all Delta employees and increase their access to higher-earning career opportunities – with one underlying motive: equity.
In recent years, Delta has created programs and removed barriers of entry for talent through strategic initiatives that includes removing the 4-year degree requirement from over 90% of their job opportunities, creating an Apprenticeship Program for employees to gain experience for corporate opportunities, and launching the Analytics Academy with a local University to help generate an employee-driven pipeline of analytics talent, and launched our first “Close the Gap Talent Accelerator.” As a result, Delta has seen successful increase in mobility of frontline talent into corporate roles, as well as increased opportunities and sponsorship for underrepresented minority talent.
Through this session, Delta leaders will share their collective transformation journey to a skills-first talent strategy, how they build partnerships and critical buy-in, and share their learnings along the way.
